What We Do 2017-11-16T21:27:22+00:00

We endeavour to propagate the true message of Islam as conveyed by the Holy Quran, the Holy Prophet (saw) and the Ahlul-Bayt (as). This in fact is the primary object of our Trust.

The Holy Prophet (saw) said, “O Ali! When Allah guides a man through you, it is better for you then all that the sun shines on”. (Al-Mustadrak ‘Alaa Al-Sahihayn)

He (saw) also said, “Anyone who calls to what is right will have the same reward as he who follows him, without any decrease in each of their rewards thereof”. (Al-Muwatta’)

Our activities in this area involve:

  • Supporting students in Islamic Higher Education

  • Muballigheen support

  • Muharram, Safar and Holy Ramadhan Relief

  • Propagation through TV/Radio

  • Translation and Publication of Shi’a Islamic literature in non-English languages

We do not usually participate in massive capital investments. However, we do lend some support, where absolutely necessary, for establishment or repair of existing Masjid or Islamic Centres. Orison Charitable Trust has, in the past, helped in building Orphanages, Imambargahs, Masjid, Student Hostels and even Homes for the needy. Moreover, we operate mostly among the indigenous people who reside in the remotest areas of poor countries.

Imam Ali (as) said, “There is no treasure more profitable than knowledge”. (Al-Kaafi)

He (as) also said, “There is no dignity like knowledge”. (Nahjul-Balaghah, Saying 113)

Orison Charitable Trust provides full or partial assistance to needy students (on case to case basis) in this area. It has supported many such cases particularly to stranded students from overseas studying in the West. Currently, more than one hundred students are benefiting from our Educational Scheme in the third world countries. Many students have completed their studies and are in decent employment and, as always, many new applications await approval. This is an ongoing cycle that depends hugely on availability of funds.

The Divine instruction is to give ‘Sadaqah’ (Charity). This will provide relief and help to the recipients who are less fortunate; and also enormously benefit to the givers. In this life, ‘Sadaqah’ increases in sustenance and protects one from calamities; and in the Hereafter, it will serve as a comforting shade.

The Holy Prophet (saww) said, “The earth on the Day of Resurrection will be scorching, except for the shadow of a believer, for verily his ‘Charity’ will serve him as a shade”. (Al-Kaafi)

Orison Charitable Trust endeavours to help our brothers and sisters in dire need, with at least basic comfort of food and shelter. It targets the widows, the orphans and the most poor in many countries.

Recently, we have embarked on ‘Economic Upliftment’ program. Pilot cases have been introduced in some countries wherein Easy Bikes have been provided on interest-free loans to some recipients; and special sewing and computer sessions for women. So far, the results have been highly encouraging and Orison Charitable Trust wishes to continue and also explore other programs.

Orison Charitable Trust in partnership with other Trusts, from time to time provides financial assistance to urgent medical cases that are brought to its attention. It also works to build and equip clinics in various parts of the world.

From time to time, representatives of Orison Charitable Trust or other Charitable Organisations with whom we work, visit different countries to assess the need and monitor progress. We then share the information with our esteemed donors and all Mumineen.

“Do not feel ashamed if the amount of charity is small because to refuse the needy is an act of greater shame.”

Imam Ali (as) - Nahjul Balagah

They will ask thee as to what they should spend on others. Say: “Whatever of your wealth you spend, shall (first) be for your parents, and for the near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer; and whatever good you do, verily, God has full knowledge thereof.”

Holy Quran

“Attract sustenance by giving charity.”

Holy Prophet Muhammed (saw) - Bihar Al-Anwar, vol 74
